Chase Associates Quick-Opening Conversion Model CM-3 Manway allows quick access through any existing bolted cover manway or large nozzle presently installed in a concrete wall or steel tank. Model CM-3 bolts up to all standard 24”, 30” and 36” ANSI 150lb and 300lb drilled flanges, replacing the heavy blind flange cover and providing Quick-Opening access for the remaining life of the tank or chest. The handwheel release operates only when the tank is empty and provides access in seconds without unbolting or use of tools. Conforms with OSHA Permit Required Confined Space Rules. Standard sizes are designed for ID or IPS Pipe from Sched 5 to Sched 80.
Each manway comes with an OSHA approved lockout/tagout feature to prevent accidental openings or closings. Since the static pressure of the tank contents is pushing the cover against the gasket, it cannot be accidentally opened once the contents are above the level of the manway.
Our Manway products conform to the following: Welding Procedures-ASME Code Sec IX, WPS CA-FC 8/8, FCAW (all welders are ASME certified); AWWA D100-96 Section 7.1 Shell Manholes, API Standard 650 Section 3.6.2 Shell Manholes as an alternate design to Bolted Cover Manholes described in 3.6.1 and OSHA “Permit-Required Confined Space” entry rules Part 1910.146. Material Test Reports are provided on all materials.

Access into concrete chests, stainless and carbon steel tanks used in Pulp and Papermaking, Wastewater Treatment Plants, Municipal Water Storage and processing tanks, Agricultural Storage Silos and other constructed tanks.
